Week 6-7 (2/10 – 2/23)

If you didn’t know, I am a big fan of tattoos, especially getting tattoos in countries that I am visiting. Because of this, I decided why not get another tattoo to represent my time in Hong Kong. Shout out to my tattoo artist, @tattoootrd (tattoo on the road), who created an amazing tattoo based on the Hong Kong Orchid and my Chinese name, 艾美玲 (Ai Mei Ling), courtesy of my Chinese teacher. Personally, I really like the tattoo, and it’s a lot bigger than I expected, but it’s a piece of art that will last forever on my body.

Now let's talk about Thailand!

I was in Bangkok for 4 nights and 3 days and stayed at the Mad Monkey Hostel. Thailand was my first solo trip I’ve ever been on, and I thought it was a lot of fun. The people at the hostel where I stayed were really nice and welcoming, so even though I was travelling alone, I never really felt lonely. While there, I checked out Wang Lang Market, the floating market in Icon Siam (mall), got a Korean head spa done (10/10 recommend), got a massage, and went to a Muay Thai fight.

I feel like if I had actually planned what I wanted to do in Bangkok before I went, I would have made better use of my time while there, but I had fun regardless. There’s freedom in traveling alone because you can do what you want to do, and you don’t need to accommodate anyone, which I found to be very nice. Also, Thailand is pretty cheap (compared to Hawaii), and you can bargain for goods at more local places, which I found really cool.

Honestly, I really want to go back to Thailand to explore Bangkok more, but also go to other places like Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Krabi. I would really love to take my time and explore Thailand more, and try more activities like a Muay Thai class or something similar.
