Week 12-13 (3/24 – 4/6)
Midterms are finally over, and Archie left so I was honestly kind of bored. But it’s okay because I spontaneously booked a trip to Beijing (since my friend was already going for his birthday). When I say spontaneous, I mean I booked the flight less than 12 hours before the actual flight (which is a first for me). My friend (Ben's) parents were meeting up with him in Beijing for his birthday and have an apartment there, so I was able to stay with them, which was nice. While in Beijing, I ate some interesting foods like… turtle. Honestly, I only found out what I was eating after I started to eat it, and by that point, it was too late to back out.
Besides food, we also checked out some really cool malls and went to the Temple of Heaven because we couldn’t get tickets to the palace. Either way, I really had a good time in Beijing, and it was cool to see other cities in China and not only Shenzhen. Unfortunately, all good things came to an end, and I went back to classes (with a slight cold).
To be honest, it’s kind of funny that I went to China twice in less than a week, but a few days after coming back from Beijing, a couple of friends and I went to Shenzhen and explored more. The highlight of this Shenzhen day-trip was the random cat café we stumbled upon in the mall and spent at least an hour there, if not more. If, by now, you couldn’t tell… I’m really trying my best to make use of my 10-year, multiple-entry visa.
